THE DIAGONAL FESTIVAL

MUSEE D'ART MODERNE OBLIQUE (1972) - Claude parent Photograohies originales de Michel Charles Gaffier

In the end, perhaps only the diagonal matters.

The exceptionalism of the diagonal.

The refreshing disturbance of what is oblique.

Yes, let’s celebrate the diagonal and the oblique in architecture.

Life itself, we believe, was born from oblique actions.

God Himself loved the diagonal, more, we believe, than Cardo and Decumanus.

Let’s initiate THE DIAGONAL FESTIVAL.

THE FESTIVAL OF OBLIQUENESS.

THE FESTIVAL OF THE MOVEMENT THAT THE DIAGONAL AND WHAT IS OBLIQUE NOT ONLY MAKE POSSIBLE, BUT PROMOTE AND MAKE UNAVOIDABLE.

Bring the DIAGONAL and the OBLIQUE to the fore, dear architect!

Like never before.

Let’s thus pay homage to Claude Parent, on the occasion of his centennial on February 26th, 2023.

What is, after all, the diagonal ?

It is the REBEL, the one who has the courage to NOT conform.

Anything worth remembering is in actuality diagonal and oblique, metaphorically and otherwise.

THE OBLIQUE and THE DIAGONAL represent THE DIFFERENCE.

La difference.

The one that stands out.

The one that refuses to be dead, static.

It is the diagonal that pushes life forward, whatever Mondrian might have said, but Mondrian loved the diagonal too, implicitly in his later works and explicitly in his earlier work.

Let’s rejuvenate ourselves with A FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO THE DIAGONAL AND THE OBLIQUE.

Let’s start anew… being rebellious.

Yes, rebellious.

Let’s pay homage to Claude Parent and in the process let’s pay homage to our own active rebelliousness. Expressed.
